Great North Run - Access to STACK Newcastle

Great North Run - Access to STACK Newcastle

GREAT NORTH RUN

This Sunday marks the 40th anniversary of the Great North Run, and this year’s route takes runners through the heart of Newcastle city centre on their final leg of the race.

Because of this, there are a number of road closures in place across the city.

The half-marathon will pass Monument and carry on past STACK Newcastle via New Bridge Street West.

This does mean there will be restricted access points to get to STACK – a pedestrian crossing point has been located on New Bridge St W outside of Nationwide bank / Newcastle Library.

If travelling by Metro, Monument station will remain open – exit onto Grey Street and walk along via High Friar Lane or Hood Street.

For taxi drop-offs, we recommend getting dropped off at the far end of Blackett Street and walking along Blackett Street to the designated crossing point on New Bridge St W.

Please check with local bus operators for their routes on the day.

If you’re heading to STACK from the bottom of Grey Street, you will be able to walk all the way up to Grey’s Monument and along to the crossing point on New Bridge St W.

We appreciate this isn’t convenient, however this is a fantastic event for the city and we will be celebrating each and every runner who takes part.

There will be stewards across the city helping to direct people – so do come along to STACK and show your support!
